How to get a Peppol ID in Singapore

A Peppol ID is your business's address on the InvoiceNow network — the identifier that lets you send and receive e-invoices through Singapore's national e-invoicing infrastructure. Under the GST InvoiceNow requirement, every GST-registered business needs one before their mandatory date.

Registration is free and straightforward. You register through an IMDA-accredited Access Point provider, not through IRAS or IMDA directly. Here is the step-by-step.

What is a Peppol ID?

Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is an international e-invoicing standard used across 40+ countries. Singapore adopted it as the backbone of InvoiceNow in 2019. Your Peppol ID is tied to your business's Unique Entity Number (UEN) — it is how the network knows where to route your invoices.

Think of it like an email address for invoices. Your suppliers and customers can look up your Peppol ID on the Peppol directory and send structured invoice data directly to your accounting system.

Why you need one

The GST InvoiceNow requirement means GST-registered businesses must transmit invoice data to IRAS through the Peppol network. Without a Peppol ID, you cannot connect to the network. If your mandatory date has passed — or is approaching — and you do not have a Peppol ID, you are not compliant.

How to register — step by step

   Choose an IMDA-accredited Access Point provider. IMDA maintains a list of accredited providers on the InvoiceNow page. Each provider offers an InvoiceNow-ready solution — some are free for SMEs, others are paid with broader features.

   Sign up with the provider and supply your UEN. The provider registers your Peppol ID using your business's Unique Entity Number. You will need your UEN, business name, and a contact person.

   Verify and activate. The provider submits your registration to the Peppol network. Once approved (typically 1–3 business days), your Peppol ID is active and your business is discoverable on the network.

   Send a test invoice. Before your mandatory date, send a test e-invoice through the network to confirm everything works. Your provider should support this.

   Notify your suppliers and customers. Let them know you are on InvoiceNow so they can send and receive e-invoices with you through the Peppol network.

What it costs

The Peppol ID registration itself is free. What you pay — if anything — is for the InvoiceNow-ready solution you use to connect to the network.

IMDA lists InvoiceNow-Ready Solutions that are free for SMEs until March 2031. If you need broader functionality — accounting, payroll, GST returns — paid solutions typically start from a few hundred dollars per year.

There is also a S$1,000 InvoiceNow transition grant available through the Productivity Solutions Grant to offset onboarding costs.

Timeline — don't wait

Registration itself is quick, but the broader onboarding — choosing a provider, migrating your invoicing workflow, training staff, testing — takes time. Around 90,000 businesses are expected to join the network, and support queues will grow as each mandatory date approaches.
